Eucalyptus deglupta - Rainbow Eucalyptus
Rainbow Eucalyptus is a spectacular multicolor tree from the island of Mindanao in the Philippines. The world’s fastest-growing tree, it's grown throughout the tropics to make paper pulp (what a waste), but is rarely seen here. The bark is so colorful it looks like a child's painting.
This dazzler grows to 75' and has white flowers. It grows best in tropical locations, will tolerate a short freeze, does best in zones 10-11. Most types of soil are fine, but this tree needs high humidity. The pale new growth is lovely and makes a spectacular bonsai.
The seeds are impossibly tiny (two million per kilo) and will come with some chaff. We'll send at least 25 seeds (they germinate easily), but they'll look like lint. Surface Sow them on a moist, sterile medium like vermiculite and keep them warm. Make sure everything is sterile and give the seedlings good air circulation. They're very vulnerable to damping off when they first sprout.
Seeds are SMALL, TEENY, TINY SPECKS! If you are intimidated by super small seeds, this may not be the tree for you.
Tropicals are tricky. Please Google this one for additional information so your seedlings make it to adulthood.
