Dorstenia foetida - Star Trek Caudiform

$12.95

Love weird plants? Know any weird gardeners?

Dorstenia foetida is a small caudex-forming plant from Ethiopia and Arabia. Multiple short brown stems grow from a low flat base. It is drought deciduous, meaning it will drop it's leaves when dry. The flowers concentrates are disk shaped bodies that contain many small flowers that fruit easily. They look like flowers from Mars.
.

As the flower dries, it explodes, flinging seeds as far as six feet. The easiest way to propagate it is to look for seedlings in your other pots. They're easily lifted and planted in their own containers. Water frequently during the warm season, but don't allow the soil to get soggy. This plant is rare, but it's easy to grow.
