Snow in Summer - Cerastium tomentosum
Snow in Summer is a fluffy ground cover with airy white flowers and gray foliage. It thrives in desert heat and needs almost no water, but looks like it belongs in a fairy garden. Low growing plants grow 6" to 12" tall, fill in quickly and become a soft silvery border. White blossoms cover the plants all summer.
The silvery leaves are soft and fluffy. They don't like to be walked on, but are a fabulous filler for sunny spaces. They need well-drained sandy soil, little water, no fertilizer. Snow in Summer is perfect between pavers, will grow in the cracks of stone walls, and is the perfect solution for sunny slopes that are too steep to mow.
This easy ground cover is perennial in all zones from 3 to 10.
Sow the tiny seeds on the surface of a good starter mix and keep them warm and moist. They need light to germinate. They'll pop up in two to three weeks. One pack will cover about 100 square feet.
