Asclepias incarnata Milkweed 'Ice Ballet'
This long-blooming snowy version of swamp milkweed is every bit as dramatic as its colorful cousins. Bright white flowers are striking against dark green foliage. The slender plants grow 3' to 4' tall, will tolerate some shade but bloom best in full sun.
Surprise surprise, "Swamp" Milkweed prefers moist soil, but it performs admirably in average, well-drained gardens. The Monarchs love it planted anywhere.
Swamp Milkweed spreads gradually by runners as well as seeds. It's not invasive, just reliable. If you want to contain it, pop off the seed pods. This plant is a godsend for soggy gardens and beloved by butterflies.
Germination can be slow, but these seeds were just harvested and should pop up quickly.
