White Siberian Heirloom Watermelon
$6.99
This rare little melon has a clear sweet flavor and crisp flesh. It's early enough to be grown in Siberia. Slice through the striped skin and be amazed. It's white! With very black seeds.
Originally brought to Saskatchewan by Russian immigrants, Sweet Siberian is a small Japanese type watermelon. Six pound ice-box-sized fruit with crisp, cream-colored flesh, old-fashioned watermelon flavor, sweet, fruity and clear.
A short season variety, it does well in both hot and cool climates. Like many heirlooms, it has a thin rind and must be handled with care, but is so popular in Japan that devotees go to the farmers to pick up their favorite fruit. 85 days.
